The ITASTRA School of Italian for Foreigners, part of the Department of Humanities at the University of Palermo, offers semi-intensive and intensive courses in Italian language and culture to all international students attending the University of Palermo for various reasons, as well as to anyone who wishes to learn Italian and is not enrolled at the University of Palermo. The school is open to all, and there are no prerequisites for enrolling in ItaStra courses. Courses are offered throughout the year at all levels, from beginner to advanced, based on a minimum number of students enrolled per class. All ITASTRA courses offer classes at all levels, from beginner to advanced. Initial skills are assessed through an entry test. At the end of the course, the student's acquired skills will be certified with a certificate of attendance. With attendance of a minimum of 25 hours of lessons, all students will earn the OPEN BADGE digital certification of skills "Italian as a Second Language in Multilingual Contexts, " from levels A1 to C2 (CEFR). The OPEN BADGE certification represents a new opportunity for students of the ItaStra Italian language courses, who can receive this prestigious digital certification issued by the University of Palermo. The program includes three weekly lessons, each lasting three hours, in the afternoon. For a total of 40 hours, students will be guided through every stage of the language learning process. Italian students at the University of Palermo will support students in social and recreational activities. They will help build relationships with the new cultural and social environment and contribute to the language learning process through non-formal learning.
