The Italian Cultural Institute of Naples (ICI) has existed since January 1990 and is currently directed by Roberto Pasanisi. From the beginning, in times not yet suspicious, the Institute has conceived culture in its broadest sense, that is, enlivened by profound civil and social implications: it has denounced, in the context of the program of its academic year and through its magazine "New Letters", the corruption and inefficiency of the system, the underworld and collusion between politicians, mafia and Camorra, the patronage of power; stressing, at the same time, the unavoidable need for a return to legality and a political and social life based on the sacred values of ethics, culture and justice. Indeed, one of the causes of what has happened and is happening certainly lies in the abyss that has progressively dug between culture (understood in its broadest sense, and therefore also ethics) and politics: thus politics has become a pure technique. , and from there the step to making it the most sinister of business could only be short. The battle for the politics of the future will be played - will have to be played - on culture. In the course of its activity, the Institute has increasingly assumed, alongside its primary (literary and cultural) function, a civil function, a place for debate and aggregation of what is now called 'civil society'; political laboratory, in the etymological sense of the term (idest as 'citizen science'), but always super partes (indeed: contra partes). In fact, the Institute operates, unlike other prestigious city structures, not from above, but in direct contact with the city, with the people, trying to give an answer, from a cultural point of view, to their needs and their need for civil and social points of reference. To this end, it arises from a point of view of mutual and fruitful collaboration with other cultural and social associations and bodies. The Institute, marked by the criteria of an authentic and unconditional democracy and close, on the ideological level, to the Philosophical School of Frankfurt (Adorno, Marcuse, Löwenthal, Fromm, Horkheimer), is characterized by the greatest and indiscriminate openness, beyond and beyond any ideological barrier, except two: those of honesty - intellectual and moral - and good will. The Italian Cultural Institute of Naples (ICI) publishes the international poetry and literature magazine "Nuove Lettere", its telematic version "Nuove Lettere Elettroniche" (NLE) and, in the context of ICI Edizioni, five editorial series, both paper and electronic (poetry, fiction and non-fiction); organizes the "Literature" Prize for poetry, fiction, non-fiction and a training course in Creative Writing, on site (CSC) and at a distance (LESC). It includes three sectors: CISAT (Centro Italiano Studî Arte-Terapia), which carries out psychotherapy, research, teaching and training activities in the field of Art-Therapy and psychology in general, even at a distance (FAD), and annually organizes an interdisciplinary conference; the “Francesco De Sanctis” Free University Institute for Foreigners (LIUPS), with courses also at a distance (LIUPS-AD); and the “Guido Dorso” School of Politics, which publishes the online magazine “Politiké”. The ICI, sometimes in collaboration with other cultural bodies, organizes throughout the year, as part of its academic year, a continuous and highly qualitative cultural activity, manifesting itself in a series of conventions, conferences, meetings, lessons, presentations and round tables on cultural and political topics. The Scientific Committee of the Institute is composed of: Steven Carter (professor of English language and literature at the University of California, Bakersfield), Massimo Cocchi (professor of Food and Human Nutrition at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Bologna); Giovanni Dotoli (emeritus professor of French language and literature at the "Aldo Moro" University of Bari and professor at the Sorbonne University in Paris); Constantin Frosin (professor of French language and literature at the "Danubius" University of Galati; writer) in memoriam, Antonio Illiano (emeritus professor of Italian language and literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Roberto Pasanisi (former director of the departments and lecturer, “Principe di Napoli” University Center; director of the Italian Cultural Institute of Naples and of “Nuove Lettere”; writer; clinical psychologist and psychotherapist), Vittorio Pellegrino (former president of the Provincial Tourist Board of Naples; neuropsychiatrist, former Director of the Mental Health Service and professor at the University of Naples "Federico II") in memoriam, Mario Selvaggio (professor of French language and literature at the University of Cagliari); Mario Susko (former full professor at the University of Sarajevo; professor of American literature at the State University of New York, N.
