Inside, the abside (apse) hosts the Pala d’Oro, an altarpiece made of six gilded siverl formelle (panels) from the XII and XIV centuries. On the side of the apse, six fourteenth century wooden panels of the Apostles were partially demolished by iconostasis believer in the XVII century. The large crucifix hanging from the triumphal arch dates from the XV century. Underneath the left altar, the Ara Licovia from I century A. D. is still preserved. The current XVIII century building replaces a preexisting one believed to be contemporary to the XIII century adjacent tower bell. The wooden statue of the Virgin Mary is a replica of the original burnt down in a fire at the beginning of last century. According to the tradition, the original statue was found in the sea by fishermen, and since thenla Madonnina (little Madonna) has been protector of Caorle fishermen and many events are organized in her honor.
