A general intensive Italian course is the very core of an Italian study stay in Sicily with Scuola Virgilio. A full class consists of 15 hours per week (1 hour = 60 minutes), with 3-hour classes every morning from Monday to Friday, from 9.30 am to 1.00 pm (please see registration form for details) including a 30-minute coffee break. All teachers are native Italian speakers, graduated in foreign languages and with specific training in teaching Italian as a non-native language. In each lesson, different aspects of the Italian language and culture are studied in a friendly and informal atmosphere. The first part of the lesson focuses on grammar aspects with written and oral exercises, while the second part is dedicated to conversation, role play games, songs and other activities. The courses are divided into different levels, according to the EU CEFR for language learning. All the study material is provided by the school. Each group is composed by maximum 8 people. At Scuola Virgilio students come from all over the world.

During the general/conversational Italian private lessons Scuola Virgilio's students can discover different aspects of the language and culture in a friendly and compelling way. In every lesson Italian conversation is combined with the study of grammar through writing, speaking and listening activities and often with the help of videos - documentaries or movies. Scuola Virgilio's native Italian teachers will adapt the lesson content based on the student's level: they are always happy to accept suggestions on the topics to be discussed. At Scuola Virgilio private tuition in general and conversational Italian is available alone or combined with an intensive Italian group course during a summer study vacation in Italy. Lessons can take place at Scuola Virgilio's premises or outside, for example at the student's accommodation (holiday home, b&b, farmhouse. ) or as open-air Italian lessons, in a terrace, a garden or at the beach!
